Career story

Mỹ Châu was born in Thủ Thừa (Long An) and entered cải lương in 1961 at just 11 years old, after impresario Ba Cang of the Tiếng Chuông troupe spotted her talent. Her first role was a child role in "Giai nhân bên suối mộng"; she was soon given major roles and became the leading actress of the Thủ Đô 2 troupe in 1964.

In 1965 she joined the large Kim Chung troupe, made her mark as Mai Thảo in "Trinh nữ lầu xanh" and began her partnership with Minh Phụng; in 1967 she received the Thanh Tâm Award's Gold Medal for promising artist for the play "Gió giao mùa". In the early 1990s she appeared in many cải lương videos such as "Anh hùng xạ điêu" and "Kiếp nào có yêu nhau" (1992), and was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 1993.

Later she worked with television stations to restage many classic plays, before closing her career after the programme "Tạ tình tri âm" in 2012.

Babyface Entertainment, a Vietnam casting agency since 2009, helps brands, agencies and production houses book Mỹ Châu for commercials, TVCs, key-visual shoots, events and KOL campaigns, working through the artist’s management to confirm availability and fees.
