Trần Anh Hùng made his international debut with Mùi đu đủ xanh, which won the Camera d'Or at Cannes 1993, the 1994 César for Best First Feature, the Sutherland Award at the London Film Festival and an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
