Victor Vũ

Born in 1975 in North Hollywood (California, USA), Victor Vũ earned a bachelor's degree in film production from Loyola Marymount University and worked in visual effects and commercials before focusing on filmmaking. He began with the short film Firecracker (1997) – winner of Best Short Film at the Newport Beach Film Festival – then made First Morning (Buổi sáng đầu năm) and Oan hồn (2004).

His first film made in Vietnam was Chuyện tình xa xứ (2009), followed by Giao lộ định mệnh, Cô dâu đại chiến and Thiên mệnh anh hùng – the work that won him Best Director at the 2012 Cánh Diều (Golden Kite) Awards. Scandal: Bí mật thảm đỏ (2012) and Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh (2015) won the Bông Sen Vàng at the 18th and 19th Vietnam Film Festivals respectively, along with Best Director.

He continued with Lôi Báo (2017), Người bất tử (2018), Mắt biếc (2019) – Bông Sen Vàng at the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival – Người vợ cuối cùng (2023) and Thám tử Kiên: Kỳ án không đầu (2025), which earned him Best Director at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

Babyface Entertainment, a Vietnam casting agency since 2009, helps brands, agencies and production houses book Victor Vũ for commercials, TVCs, key-visual shoots, events and KOL campaigns, working through the artist’s management to confirm availability and fees.

Victor Vũ first gained recognition in the US when First Morning won Best Feature at the 2004 San Diego Asian American Film Festival. In Vietnam, he became one of the directors with the most extensive award collections: three of his films won the Bông Sen Vàng at the Vietnam Film Festival (Scandal: Bí mật thảm đỏ – 2013, Tôi thấy hoa vàng trên cỏ xanh – 2015, Mắt biếc – 2021), he twice received Best Director at the 2013 and 2015 editions, and won the directing award at the 2012 Cánh Diều for Thiên mệnh anh hùng. In 2025, Thám tử Kiên: Kỳ án không đầu went on to win Best Director (Vietnamese film category) at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival and the Jury Prize at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival.
