Lê Hoàng

Born in 1956 in Hanoi, Lê Hoàng studied at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering before transferring to the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, graduating in 1982, and then moved to Ho Chi Minh City to work at Giải Phóng Film Studio. From the mid-1980s he wrote many stage plays, such as Tôi chờ ông đạo diễn (1985) and Ngụ ngôn năm 2000 (1986).

In the early 1990s he directed Vị đắng tình yêu 2, Lương tâm bé bỏng and Trái tim chó sói, then Lưỡi dao (1995) and Ai xuôi vạn lý (1996). Gái nhảy (2003) was a major turning point, leading to Lọ Lem hè phố (2004), Trai nhảy (2007), Tối nay, 8 giờ! (2011), Cát nóng, S.O.S Sói trắng (2017) and Trà (2024); he also received the Cánh Diều (Golden Kite) Award for Best Feature Film Screenplay in 2004.

Beyond film, many of his plays have been staged by the IDECAF Theatre; he was a judge on Học viện danh hài (2016) and acted in the films Siêu trộm (2016) and Lật mặt: Nhà có khách (2019).

Babyface Entertainment, a Vietnam casting agency since 2009, helps brands, agencies and production houses book Lê Hoàng for commercials, TVCs, key-visual shoots, events and KOL campaigns, working through the artist’s management to confirm availability and fees.

Alongside directing, Lê Hoàng has been recognised by the Vietnam Cinema Association for screenwriting with the 2004 Cánh Diều Award for Best Feature Film Screenplay, for the script of "Nữ tướng cướp". The award reflects his strength in both writing and staging his own films.
